Brian J. Kaplan, a partner in our Chicago office, has over fifteen years of litigation experience representing defendants in civil litigation matters, including personal injury claims, contract matters, product liability claims, medical malpractice claims, third party and employers’ liability claims, slip and fall lawsuits, and arson claims. In addition, for the past eight years he has handled workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers.
Brian’s legal work is concentrated in all phases of trial work. His trial practice emphasizes both complex workers’ compensation matters and civil lawsuits. He has successfully defended employers in numerous arbitration hearings and oral arguments before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, as well as several Circuit Court and Appellate Court appeals. He has tried bench and jury cases to verdict in Lake and Cook Counties. He has also tried in excess of 75 cases through mandatory arbitration in both Lake and Cook County, Illinois.
Brian was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1989. He received Juris Doctor from Kent College of Law in 1988 and his Bachelors of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1985. He is a member of the Illinois Defense Counsel.
