Kevin J. Plagens is an equity partner with the law firm of Kopka Pinkus Dolin & Eads P.L.C. He practices in the firm’s Farmington Hills Michigan office.   He received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University and Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.  Throughout the course of his legal studies he received numerous awards for academic excellence.

In 1997 he was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and began practicing as a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney.  In 1999 he was recruited by, and joined the civil defense firm that is now known as Kopka Pinkus Dolin & Eads.  He has broad trial experience in many areas of civil litigation, including automobile negligence, real property, insurance coverage, motor carrier/transportation, premises liability, errors and omissions, and transactional law.

His experience includes practice in the State of Michigan Courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He has never lost an appellate argument to the Michigan Court of Appeals.  Less than one year after he began practicing law, he was admitted to United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, where he successfully presented, and argued an appeal before the panel of justices.  

He is regularly requested to be a guest lecturer and he provides seminars on the issues of Michigan third party automobile negligence law, no-fault law. He regularly attends local and chapter meetings of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and National Society of Home Inspectors (NAHI), and provides members with updates on Michigan law. 

His professional affiliations include, and have included, the State Bar of Michigan, Real Property Law section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
