Thomas S. Ehrhardt has been associated with insurance and litigation defense firms for his entire career.  His practice is concentrated in the field of trial advocacy and insurance defense litigation, including product and premises liability, construction, first-party bad faith, heavy trucking and automobile negligence, professional errors and omissions, employment, real estate, and insurance coverage disputes. For one client, Mr. Ehrhardt is on call 24/7 to assist in a rapid response team.

Mr. Ehrhardt has tried over seventy cases to verdict including matters of general negligence, UM/UIM, real estate, premises liability, heavy trucking, breach of contract, first-party bad faith, and claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act.  He has also represented insurance carriers in the defense of first-party health, life and coverage disputes.  Mr. Ehrhardt has agreed on several occasions to serve as “parachute counsel” in the review and audit of high-exposure claims nearing arbitration or trial.

Mr. Ehrhardt enjoys speaking on topics including tort claims, product liability and trial skills. 

Mr. Ehrhardt receives his Juris Doctorate from the Valparaiso School of Law.  He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame.  He is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, Defense Research Institute and Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA).  Mr. Ehrhardt is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Indiana, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
